Naaz Joshi Miss Universe Diversity 2020

Naaz Joshi is India's first transgender born on December 31st, 1984 India. She is an International beauty queen and has won many beauty pageants like Miss World Diversity,  Miss Universe Diversity 2020, etc. She is a beauty queen, a trans rights activist, and a motivational speaker for many young and professional people. Naaz has won the Miss World Diversity beauty pageant three times in a row. She has been on top cover pages of many magazines and media news.

She was born as Aizya Naaz Joshi to a Muslim mother and Hindu Punjabi father.  At the early age of 7, her family sent her to a distant relative in Mumbai to avoid taunts from society for her feminine behavior. She worked at dance bars and restaurants to earn her living. Later, she enrolled National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) and completed her formal studies in fashion design. She later completed her MBA in marketing from the Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad.

The status of India’s transgender population improved when the NALSA was able to get transgender recognized as the third gender by the Supreme Court of India on 14 April 2014. She has also won the Miss Republic International Beauty Ambassador 2017 and Miss United Nations Ambassador pageants. On winning this particular title, she told Indulge Express that winning the crown gives her more power and responsibility towards society, with which she aims to work towards bringing the transgender community into the mainstream. 

Joshi first won Miss World Diversity in 2017 and retained her title the following year. She then became the first transgender to win the title for the third consecutive year in 2019. The win also made her the first transgender person in the world to win an international crown against cis-gendered women. 

Naaz Joshi won Miss Universe Diversity 2020, due to the pandemic of Covid 19, the organization took it digitally this year. Thirty Contestants were given different tasks to be completed. Naaz chose to work on women's safety and self-defense at the same time my dad was diagnosed with liver cancer, he struggled with cancer till November 2nd and he lost his life. He was a great support in my life. It was his dream to see me on the stage. I was diagnosed with covid 19 on 21st October. I was isolated in the hospital, I could not attend to my dad's last rights. After 6 months gap, I came back to events. On December 30th I participated in a health camp for trans women awaswas and was inspired by how important it is to get regular checks for trans individuals. I have been actively working for slum children through cloth drive, food drive, and educational drive. My motto is to spread love. I have been auditioning for web series for one year. I will be representing India at the world competition in Dubai on May 30th, 2021. This shall be my last beauty contest.

Naaz Joshi is a trained actress from "The Asmita theater group"  and is mentored by the actress 'Divya Dutta' and 'Kalki kochelin' and Patal Lok fame actor -' Ishwak Singh'.
